Research Imaging Informatics and Software Engineer

The Cardiovascular MR Research Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston is seeking highly motivated engineer with strong computer programming skills to suppers ongoing research projects in cardiovascular imaging. The Research Imaging Informatics Engineer supports the computational and data infrastructure of the Cardiovascular MRI Research Center. The individual is responsible for managing imaging and clinical research databases, developing and maintaining software tools and automated workflows, and supporting image analysis and data processing activities. The position serves as a bridge between imaging scientists, clinicians, and researchers to facilitate efficient, secure, and reproducible research.
Qualifications: Required
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Medical Physics, or a related field, with a Minium 2 years of experience
- Experience with Python programming and scientific computing.
- Familiarity with medical imaging data formats (e.g., DICOM, NIfTI).
- Experience managing clinical or research databases (e.g., REDCap, SQL, PostgreSQL).
- Knowledge of Linux and scripting environments.
- Familiarity with Git, Docker, and high-performance computing environments.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
Qualifications: Preferred
- Experience with cardiovascular MRI or medical imaging research.
- Knowledge of image processing and analysis software (MATLAB, ITK, Medis, CVI42, etc.).
- Familiarity with MRI system, particularly Siemens
- Experience with machine learning and AI frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow).
- Understanding of HIPAA requirements and research data security.
- Experience developing automated data pipelines and quality-control tools.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage imaging and clinical research databases and ensure data integrity and security.
- Develop and maintain Python-based tools, scripts, and automated workflows.
- Support image processing, analysis, and quantitative imaging studies.
- Organize and curate MRI datasets and associated clinical information.
- Develop software solutions for research data collection, quality control, and analysis.
- Collaborate with investigators, physicians, engineers, and research staff to support ongoing studies.
- Maintain documentation and ensure reproducible research practices.
- Support AI and computational imaging projects within the center.
